Saint Hoang Muoi temple

 

On October 10 (lunar calendar), people in Xuan Am village, An Cong commune, now is Hung Thinh commune (Hung Nguyen district - Nghe An province) flock to hold the Saint Hoang Muoi Festival. This is a chance for people to review the glorious history of their homeland and to introduce visitors a unique culture.

The Saint Hoang Muoi Temple is far from Vinh City about 2km. It was built in 1634 ( Le Dynasty). In 2002, it was ranked the provincial historic cultural by Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee.

Royal Ten Temple Church under the system of “dao mau tu phu”. It means that four realms, each realm will be controlled by a mother. Mau Cuu Trung controlls the sky realm; Mau Thuong Ngan controlls the mountainous realm; Mau Dia Chu controlls the earthly realm. Besides that, the temple worships five generals, twelve young ladies and the ten Princes. The main saint of this temple is Hoang Muoi who is Bat Hai Dai Vuong’s son in Dong Ding lake. When referring to Saint Hoang Muoi, people from North to South also admired, not least places founded the temple to worship him. The Hoang Muoi Temple Relic not only has the historic cultural values but also has attractive landscapes, convenient transportation. The relic is located on the beautiful place.

According to folklore, Saint Hoang Muoi is good at literature and fighting so he was assigned the important responsibility of managing of Nghe An's Town. He was the King's special envoy who controlled Nghe An. He had merit of building the stable politic and life of people. In particular, he was always interested, closed and kind-hearted to the poor.

Based on the objects were kept at the Han Nom Research Institute, Saint Hoang Muoi, who is worshiped in the temple, is a real character. He was Nguyen Duy Lac General who was good at strategy. He assisted Le King and was promoted  Do chi huy su. He leaded thousands of troops to qell the enemy. Then he had the great merit in fighting Nguyen to despoil 07 districts of Nam Ha, now is Ha Tinh the left bank of Lam river include Thanh Chuong, Nam Dan.

According to Nghuyen family record in Xuan Am village, Nguyen Duy Lac was born in Mau Ngo year and died on February 12 of Ky Mao year. He helped the village 100 quan tien, 02 acres so he was worshiped in the temple. He was the fifth son of Nguyen Phuc Tam. When Nguyen Duy LAc promoted Vi quoc cong, his father also promoted Phuc quoc cong and his eldest brother Nguyen Duy Nhan promoted Dac tien ho quoc thuong tuong quan. All three of them were promoted and worshiped at Xuan Am shrine. Saint Hoang Muoi is worshiped in the system dao mau tu phu. Today, in Muoi Hoang temple still has Nguyen Duy Lac tomb. On the altar there are a sword and a big pen rise straight up into the blue sky.

Hoang Muoi temple temple is a sacred temple of Nghe An. Annually, on the occasion of the festivals, the full moon day, the first day of lunar month, thousands of Nghe people  and visitors go to respectfully offer the incense to express their respect. They pray for family’s happiness, pray for the national security. In recent years, the temple also received investment interest of restoration from the leaders of levels in order that the temple should be built more beautifully to serve the spiritual life of people
